How would you describe the theological persuasion of The Well City Church?
Our church is fundamentally an evangelical charismatic Christian fellowship. We believe in the basic tenets of the Christian faith and that the church of the 21st century will need the fullness of the Holy Spirit's power to impact our culture (Acts 2).
Is The Well City Church involved in World Missions?
Yes, we are involved in several International evangelistic works including nations such as
Africa, Bulgaria, Mexico, and Guatemala. The church supports missionaries
and sends financial aid to other ministries, with a vision to raise up more missionaries and church planters (Matthew 28:19).
What does The Well City Church believe about prosperity?
Teaching on prosperity has been abused and many people have been hurt by a wrong emphasis on gaining wealth. The Bible warns us clearly against covetousness and greed (Luke 12:15). Many believers were wrongly taught that prosperity was for themselves rather than for others. But the Bible teaches us that the seed of Abraham is blessed to be a blessing (Genesis 12:3; Galatians 3:8,9). Our prosperity is always for the purpose of extending the Kingdom of God through the work of the church (II Corinthians 9:8-10). If we give and sow seeds into other people’s lives and ministries, we will reap a harvest of provision and abundance for our own needs (Philippians 4:10-19; Luke 6:38). The Bottom line is that we believe for prosperity with a purpose and we give to have to give more!
What does the Church teach about the Holy Spirit?
We believe in the baptism of the Holy Spirit as an experience subsequent to conversion with speaking in tongues as the initial evidence of that experience. People need to repent, be baptized in water and receive the power of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38). The Holy Spirit empowers Christian disciples for bearing witness to the Word of God with a variety of demonstrations and manifestations (Acts 1:8; I Corinthians12).
The baptism of the Holy Spirit is accompanied by supernatural signs such as speaking in tongues and prophecy (Acts 2:4; 10:46; 19:6). Speaking in tongues is the initial sign and assurance to the believer of the supernatural infilling of the Holy Spirit. The gifts of the Spirit are also given as tools to be used in ministry (I Corinthians 12; Romans 12; I Peter 4:10
Could you explain about speaking in tongues in our public meetings?
The Bible teaches that we pray both with our understanding and with our Spirit, and that we can both sing with our understanding and sing in the Spirit (I Corinthians 14:15). There is a difference between the gift of tongues (which would need an interpretation) and tongues as a language of prayer and praise. What we do in our public meetings most often is an expression of our worship or our intercession to the Lord (Romans 8:26).
What does the church believe about women being involved in ministry?
We believe that the New Testament teaches that women are an equal and viable part of the ministries of the local church. Under the anointing of the new covenant and based on the revelation of the New Testament scriptures, women are free to pursue any ministry to which they are gifted and called (Galatians 3:28; Acts 8:12; Romans 16).
What does The Well City Church believe about church membership?
True membership, of course, takes place in a person's heart and spirit. It is the Lord who sets the members in the Body as it pleases Him (I Corinthians 12:18) and men and women are added to the Lord and the Church by the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:47; 5:14). The process of some form of public identification to a local church is biblical and historical and early church fathers apparently used some kind of teaching to screen people and safeguard the early church (Acts 11:26; Acts 20:27-32). Public membership also makes a declaration that a person is accountable to other Christians and spiritual authority for their lives (Hebrews 13:17).
Of course, anyone can, attend the public meetings of our church. However, because it is healthy and edifying to be accountable to a local church and a church family, we recommend the prayerful consideration of official identification and membership (Hebrews 10:24,25).
How do I become a member and get involved at The Well City Church:
The Well City Church schedules three Membership Seminars annually, which a person can attend and hear the vision of the church before joining. This seminar is followed by an interview with a staff member and then a special Sunday morning service for official reception of new members.
The first step to getting involved at The Well City Church is by taking our TRAKS classes. Held quarterly these courses are designed to better equip you in not only your personal walk with God, but also in your role as a believer in the Body of Christ.
Do I have to finish all of the TRAKS before I get involved?
No, every new member can become active in a limited way right away. However, for you to be active in the established ministries of the Church, we ask you to finish the first four TRAKS and then fill out a ministry application form. We encourage all members to also take Leaders training, which is TRAKS #5. This TRAKS would be for those who want to help lead a Connect Group.
